Mapboard GIS is an iPad application designed for digital map creation using an Apple Pencil. It seeks to blend the intuitive workflow of traditional pen-and-paper mapping with the increased precision, versatility, and scalability offered by geospatial information systems (GIS). Its thoughtfully developed interface aims to support both novice and experienced mappers in producing multiscale, topologically consistent geological maps.

Development of Mapboard GIS was driven by the need to address limitations observed in both manual and conventional digital mapping approaches. While primarily tailored for geological applications, the platform's flexibility renders it potentially useful across various interpretive mapping contexts.
